3 NETWORKING QUESTIONS THAT WILL CHANGE THE WAY YOU CONNECT

Networking can feel intimidating — especially if you’re not sure how to move beyond surface-level conversations (you can only talk about the weather and sports for so long, am I right?). But at last week’s Elite Entrepreneur Mastermind, I left with three powerful questions that I KNEW I had to share with my community!

I just recorded a podcast on these exact questions- give it a listen!
These questions get you thinking and absolutely encourage you to go deeper. They’re not about small talk; they’re about building real relationships, fostering collaboration, and sparking growth. Whether you’re at a networking event, a dinner party or a mastermind, these will help you connect with intention.

1. Who is somebody that would be an ideal connection for you in order to boost your life or business?

Most people show up to events thinking about what they can get — a client, a collaboration, a sale etc. But what if we flipped that mindset?

This question creates space for generosity and expansion. It shows that you’re not there to compete; you’re there to connect and be of service.

When you ask this, you might uncover opportunities to make powerful introductions that could change someone’s life or business.

Example:
At the mastermind, I asked someone this question and she said, “An ideal connection for me would be a brand strategist who helps female founders clarify their story.” I immediately thought of someone in my network and made the introduction the next day. That one connection could lead to something incredible — and it started with one thoughtful question.

Who could you introduce this week that might create a ripple of opportunity for someone else?

2. What is something that you are working through behind the scenes that people may not be aware of?

This question is where real connection begins.

We live in a “highlight-reel” world, but everyone is working through something. When you invite this kind of honesty into a conversation, it instantly deepens the relationship. I am continuously learning (and appreciating) that vulnerability is a super connector when it comes to deepening relationships.

At the mastermind, I was reminded that even the most successful entrepreneurs are navigating personal challenges, growth edges, emotions, moments of doubt, the list goes on. Sharing those stories doesn’t make us weak — it makes us human.

Example:
For me, something I’ve been working through behind the scenes is expanding my leadership capacity as our businesses grow — holding bigger visions, managing stress, understanding our numbers in a more expansive way and communicating at a higher level. It’s work that nobody sees, but it’s the foundation of everything we’re building.

What’s something you’re currently navigating that, if you shared it, might help someone else feel less alone?

3. What is the most radical change that you’re going to make for 2026?

This one might just be my favorite.

It invites boldness — not the “safe” next step, but the stretch version of what’s possible. Radical doesn’t mean reckless. It means intentional disruption — the kind of change that expands your capacity and moves you closer to the life you actually want.

Example:
For Matt and me, one of our radical changes is scaling BENCHMARK beyond just a Downtown Burlington, ON gym. We want to positively impact more lives through online programming and work towards opening a second rick and mortar location!
We’re also evolving our 2:1 coaching offer into a full performance and lifestyle program that helps people live stronger, healthier lives so they can grow and scale their business and hit that next level that they’ve been working towards! It’s big. It’s exciting. And yes, it’s a little scary — but that’s where growth happens.

What would it look like if you stopped playing small in 2026? What’s the radical move that would change everything?

If you want to build meaningful connections, start with curiosity. Be the person who goes deeper, listens harder, and isn’t afraid to ask the kind of questions that actually matter.

Because the truth is: growth doesn’t happen alone. It happens through people, conversations and expansive environments!
