TRUSTING THE NUDGE: SAYING YES TO THE NEXT CHAPTER

Matt and I recently shared some big news: after ten years in our Burlington home—the place where we built our first life together, celebrated milestones, and even said “I do” in the backyard—we’re moving! Not to a different country (sorry to those who guessed California!), but into a new chapter that feels more aligned with the life we want to create.

This decision didn’t come easily. Selling our first home together has been emotional, but what really guided us was learning to trust the nudge—that quiet whisper that keeps resurfacing, urging you toward change.

LISTENING TO THE NUDGE

We all have those moments: a voice in the back of your head, a gut feeling, or a repeated thought that doesn’t seem to go away. At first, it might just sound like a fleeting idea—“What if I moved?” “What if I started that business?”—but when it keeps coming back, louder each time, it’s worth paying attention. For us, the nudge showed up over and over, until we couldn’t ignore it anymore.

ACTION BUILDS CONFIDENCE

Taking big action can feel terrifying. What if people judge you? What if you fail? The truth is, people will always talk, but staying still out of fear doesn’t serve anyone. Over the years, Matt and I have built a muscle for taking action—sometimes messy action—and it’s made us more resilient. Every bold step forward has taught us something and strengthened our ability to keep going, even when things don’t go perfectly.

FEAR, JUDGEMENT, & RESISTANCE

One of the biggest barriers to action is the fear of judgment. What will people say if you sell your home, quit your job, or start over? But here’s the reality: people will have opinions no matter what you do. The question is—are you going to let their voices drown out your own? Sitting with fear, journaling, or simply talking it through with a trusted friend, mentor, or partner can help you move past that resistance and into action.

BUILDING RESILIENCY

Big moves don’t always mean smooth sailing. Obstacles will come, and things rarely unfold exactly as planned. But each challenge you face builds resiliency. The more you practice taking bold action, the less daunting those inevitable bumps in the road feel. Instead of derailing you, they become speed bumps—temporary, not permanent.

A BIG LIFE, NOT JUST A BIG HOUSE

When reflecting on why this move mattered, we realized something important: we don’t just want a big house—we want a big life. A life filled with memories, travel, impact, and building businesses that light us up. Sometimes, chasing that dream means letting go of comfort and making decisions that feel scary but true.

COMMUNITY AND SUPPORT

Following a nudge is easier when you’re not doing it alone. We’ve leaned on mentors, friends, and peers to talk through our decisions—people who don’t just cheerlead but also challenge us with honesty. Surrounding yourself with that kind of support system can make all the difference when taking risks.

And speaking of support, we’re excited to share that we’ve started coaching together! After years of growing our businesses and mentoring inside masterminds, we’ve found so much joy in combining our strengths to help entrepreneurs navigate their own leaps. If you’ve been feeling a nudge but aren’t sure where to start, we’d love to walk alongside you.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Trusting the nudge isn’t about reckless decisions. It’s about listening when your heart, your gut, and your intuition keep pointing in the same direction—and then taking action, even if it’s scary.

So ask yourself:

  • Where are you being nudged right now?

  • What dreams or ideas keep resurfacing?

  • What’s one small step you can take today to honour it?

Life is too short to ignore the whispers. Maybe your next big leap starts with simply trusting the nudge.
